Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you can do this on your own. There are loads of do-it-yourself résumé-writing guides out there.

How much you will save really depends on what value you put on your time. Doing a résumé when you haven’t done one for a long time – or ever – can be very time-consuming.

Will it be effective? That’s the key question, because…the game has changed! It’s no longer a “job search.” It’s now a “career marketing campaign.” And the players are playing a different game with different technologies.

The documents needed for an effective career marketing campaign must help separate you from the crowd and be adapted to the current “intelligent hiring” environment being driven by artificial intelligence and machine learning.

As a nationally certified professional résumé writer, I will deliver career management documents that will get results by establishing your brand and expertise, differentiating you, and positioning you to compete in today’s crowded and competitive market.

You will find that résumé writers have a variety of experience.

It’s important to note that less than 10% have completed the rigorous process required to achieve national certification.

I bring the unique combination of 18 years experience as an executive healthcare recruiter, 10 years as a career coach, 3+ years of successful writing on a personal blog, and a national certification by the National Résumé Writers Association, the premier accreditation organization in the résumé writing field.

As a recruiter, I have worked extensively with job seekers who are in career transition. More times than not that involved helping them create a new résumé or correct or update a poorly written résumé.

In the résumé writing world, writing experience counts, technical training counts, and coaching experience counts. It’s a trifecta that I bring to the relationship.

Speak with 2 or 3 writers before you decide.

This is truly an industry in which you get what you pay for.

I am intentionally higher with my fees than the run-of-the-mill writers and résumé mills. I am specially trained and experienced in developing your résumé in a way that best positions you in your career marketing campaign.

At the same time, I am far from the most expensive. Résumé fees can run the gamut from $99 at a résumé mill to as much as $4,000 from a handful of highly niched and experienced executive résumé writers.

I’ve positioned my fees to reflect a balance of affordability, quality, and value.

Considering that a month of lost salary for an executive can run $20-100,000, the fee for a professionally written and branded résumé is a poor place to go cheap.

I don’t have a staff of résumé writers. I intend to remain small and highly specialized. So, you get all of me all the way through the project.

I am known for my “high-touch” approach. We take what time and complete as many drafts and rewrites as it takes to get to the final product that fits your needs.

Once service level has been selected and payment has been received, I will request your current résumé and submit a comprehensive “client assessment” for you to complete and return.

Upon receipt of the assessment, we will schedule a 60-90 minute “intake” call to dive further into the current résumé and assessment and chart a positioning and branding strategy.

Once the intake call is complete, my turnaround time is usually 5-7 business days for an initial draft. We will review each draft and go through as many drafts as is necessary to get to the product that is right for you.

Typically, we get there in three drafts or less.

Once complete, you will receive copies in MS Word, PDF, and plain text format and will be invoiced for the balance of the project.

LinkedIn is becoming the “800-pound gorilla” in the career marketing campaign world. Any career transition must include a top-drawer presence on LinkedIn and an understanding of what LinkedIn does and how it works.

As a recruiter and a LinkedIn premium member since 2013, I feel as if I have “grown-up” with LinkedIn. I have experienced the power of LinkedIn’s ultimate recruiting package (LinkedIn Recruiter) and understand, at a deep level, how power users harness the power of LinkedIn’s search algorithm to find the right people for the positions they have to fill.

Lacking a strong and professionally developed presence on LinkedIn when in a career transition is one of the biggest mistakes one can make.

As a Nationally Certified Online Presence Expert (NCOPE) designee, I have received rigorous training that I can combine with my writing skills to help the client develop LinkedIn profiles that “pop” and carry the keyword richness that will enable them to rise to the top in a recruiter or hiring manager search.

But my LinkedIn offering goes beyond just making the profile look pretty and say the right things. It’s vital to understand the power of the LinkedIn search algorithm. My LinkedIn development includes training on how to use the LinkedIn search algorithm as a component of your career transition.

I guarantee that I will provide a résumé that will be professionally formatted and highlight your brand and your achievements in a way that will attract the attention of recruiters and hiring managers. That guarantee includes my commitment that you will be 100% satisfied with the document and that I will work with you until you are completely satisfied.

The same guarantee holds true if you choose to use me for your LinkedIn profile development.

I primarily focus on working with C-level, VP, and Director-level professionals in the healthcare industry.

I also have experience working with mid-to executive-level salespeople, particularly in the life sciences and biosciences industries.

I believe a résumé should concisely and professionally represent your personal brand by profiling your core skills and competencies and establishing your expertise through a presentation of your highest-level achievements. I work hard to help you avoid fluff, meaningless subjectivity, and unnecessary words and phrases.

Sure. Send me an email at gfoster328@gmail.com, and I’ll forward a few samples appropriate for your level and type of position.

Payment is made via credit card through my PayPal account. You can make payment directly through the Checkout feature on my website at www.turningpointcareerservices.com, or I will invoice you directly through PayPal.

I will work with you through as many drafts as it takes to get your résumé to where you are satisfied that it is appropriately strategic and portrays your personal brand accurately. Once you’ve approved the final draft of the original project, revisions will be handled on a case-by-case basis for an additional charge that will be determined by the extent and complexity of the revision.
